I second shot for another local Atlanta wedding photographer this past weekend. The wedding had both an American and Hindu ceremony, so it was a crazy day! The wedding was absolutely beautiful, though, and I had a great time...even if I'm paying for it today. LOL
My favorite photo from the (11 hour) day:
Isn't she stunning? There are more on my blog, too. :)
I had a fantastic engagement session down at Piedmont Park yesterday evening with K and D. The weather was MUCH more cooperative than it's been for me in the past, and I'm really happy with the way their photos turned out. These two are just adorable and they were a lot of fun to work with. I have no doubt their wedding is going to be so much fun. :)
Atlanta received a nice little surprise last night...in the form of snowfall...which turned into actual accumulation. The city freaked. :-D
Any signs of the winter surprise are long gone now, but while the kids were out catching snowflakes on their tongues I was trying to capture my own memories. Photographing snow is not exactly my strong suite, especially since I rarely have the opportunity to shoot the stuff. But I did my best and really love this shot.
I didn't have much luck getting any decent shots of the kids, but here you can see our street is actually covered in white softness.
I wish the snow had been able to hang around for a while, but I'm glad we at least got one "snowfall" this year. It was really kind of cool to see. :)
The Frogs! exhibit is back in town at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History here in Atlanta. We took the kiddos down this weekend to check out the colorful amphibians, and I decided to bring my camera along to see if I could get a few decent shots. It was sort of an impromptu visit otherwise I would have seriously considered renting a macro lense (probably the 100mm 2.8). I used my 24-70 for these shots and am pretty happy with the way they turned out. Most of them were shot at ISO 1000 or higher...does that make my fellow iStockers cringe? :-D
A few of my favorites from this trip:
I love the detail in that shot. You can see drops of dew all over the frog's backside. And these images were all shot through glass cages.
I love the poison dart frogs. They're so colorful! Unfortunately, this is the only shot that really turned out. They had blue frogs, turquoise frogs, and red frogs too. The turquoise was Kieran's favorite. :)
And just in case you were wondering, yes...I totally pushed small children out of the way to get these shots. :-D
I do not like froggy toes. Blech!
If you're in Atlanta and you have a free weekend I highly recommend visiting the exhibit. It's pretty cool. :-)
I refuse to go to the bus stop in my jammies, but apparently I have no problems going out to shoot the moon in them (pun totally intended). :D
I've been wanting to photograph a full moon for a long time now, but I always seem to miss it (even though I have the phases of the moon on my Google home page).
Last night I was a woman on a mission, though. So I watched the moon rising in the east and waited until it was high enough to free itself from the line of trees across the street from my house. I figured I could just setup the tripod in my front yard to get the shot, so there was no need to go get dressed again. LOL Well, I couldn't see the moon through the trees from that view point, so I had to lug my gear (and my PJ-clad self) down the street to get a better view.
I set up the tripod down the street and went to work. And I totally got busted by my neighbors driving home from dinner. Can you imagine what they must have thought? Crazy neighbor out in a t-shirt, pajama pants, no shoes, and a tripod with a big-ass lens on the camera. :D They knew it was me before they got close enough to really see. LOL
My longest lens is the 70-200, but it was better than nothing. Unfortunately I had to battle with a street lamp that caused me some grief for a few minutes, but I still got a couple of neat shots.
This shot is obviously cropped, but look at the detail in the moon! I just think it's so freaking amazing, and it really makes me want to get the converter for my lens. I also should have grabbed my remote, but it's buried in the basement somewhere so I had to deal with what I had.
Some clouds moved in while I was out there, and I tried my best to capture them. I tinted this shot to help bring out some of the detail, because it has a really neat effect:
It almost looks like an eclipse, so I thought it was kind of cool looking. Even if it was a total accident. LOL
And the flares coming off the "sun" in this shot look just like my tattoo. :-D
October is going to be a good month. :) It's basically photography appreciate month. Yay!! From the ACP web site:
Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP) organizes a citywide photography festival with exhibitions and events taking place throughout the month of October. The festival is highlighted by a select group of ACP Programs, which are complemented by exhibitions and events at local galleries, museums, and alternative venues. ACP Programs include the Lecture Series, The Collector‘s Series, a Film Series, My Atlanta, A Public Art Program, a Portfolio Review & Walk, as well as various ACP Collaborations.
I have never gone to any of the exhibitions before, but I'm going to make a point to see at least one or two this year. There will be photography exhibits all over the city! Including the High Museum...another thing on my "to do" list. I know...I can't believe I've never been either.
There are all kinds of fun things happening in September and October, so if you're in the city pick up a copy of The Atlantan and check out the Events Schedule.
